Teaching Associates

Martha’s educated and experienced team of Teaching Associates offer instruction in piano, guitar, sax, clarinet, flute, trumpet and acting.

Randy Chick, Piano Instructor
Randy Chick holds a Bachelor of Music from the renowned Curtis Institute and has over 30 years of professional performance and teaching experience.  He has concertized with the Philadelphia Orchestra and several orchestras around the world. Randy has worked as a touring musician and has performed with artists such as Buddy Grecko, George Benson, The Pointer Sisters, Giovanni Hidalgo, Pablo Batista, and also played as back up with Howey Mandell’s comedy acts. He currently performs as a solo artist and is also the main keyboardist for the band Don’t Call Me Francis.  Randy specializes in piano instruction in any style and comprehensive music training.  He accepts students age 6-adult.

Jeff Larson, Guitar Instructor
Jeff Larson has been teaching guitar for 23 years and has developed a reputation as one of the best guitar teachers in the area. He has taught beginners and professional musicians alike. Many of his students have gone on to pursue music on the collegiate level, joined bands, or have even become guitar teachers themselves. Jeff’s approach to instruction is highly individualized with emphasis on developing proper technique, good playing habits, and a solid understanding of music theory that will benefit the student throughout their lifetime. There is also a lot of emphasis on having fun along the way. In addition to teaching, Jeff has performed with a variety of cover and original bands, produced other artist’s work, released two solo albums and composed music for film.
Nick DiSalvio, Saxophone/Clarinet/Flute Instructor
Dr. Nick DiSalvio is a professional saxophonist and music educator, specializing in classical and jazz saxophone. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with a specialization in Jazz Studies from Rowan University, his Master’s Degree in Saxophone Performance from Illinois State University, and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Woodwind Performance from Louisiana State University. He has performed extensively around the country with musicians such as Johnny Mathis, Denis DiBlasio, Wayne Bergeron, George Rabbai, Ed Vezinho, Dale Underwood, and many more. He has also performed with groups including the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, The Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble, The Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra, and The Heartland Jazz Orchestra. Nick is also an experienced commercial saxophonist, having performed extensively with New World Funk, Beaucoup Boogie, Questionable at Best, Cold Grits, and more. Nick currently teaches general music and directs the concert and jazz bands at Cinnaminson Middle School.  In addition to saxophone, Nick offers instruction in clarinet and flute.

Brian Howard, Bass Instructor
Brian Howard is the Arts Department Chairman and Director of Instrumental Music at Moorestown Friends School in Moorestown, NJ. He also serves as a Site Director for  the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth summer program. Brian has been playing bass and guitar since his youth and has toured and recorded as a professional musician. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree and has been teaching music for over 30 years.
Alanna Smith, Acting Coach
Alanna Smith holds a BFA  in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College.  She is a working actor and teaching artist, and has appeared on stage, film, and in the concert hall. Alanna coaches the experienced actor as well as those new to the craft; she specializes in audition/monologue preparation  Alanna splits her time between NYC and Philadelphia.
